What happens when you walk into a Youth Hub?

Someone will say hello, and you tell them why you've come. If you're not sure why you've come, that's fine. "I'm looking for work and I don't know where to start" is a perfectly good way to open.

They'll ask your name, your age and what kind of help you're after. Then you'll sit down with someone and talk about what you want. Maybe that's a job, maybe it's a course, maybe you just want help working out your options. They'll tell you what they can help with, and you can ask as many questions as you like.

You can bring a friend or someone from your family if that makes it easier. You can also leave whenever you want. There's no dress code, no test, no interview and nothing to sign. You won't be judged on what you're wearing or what's on your CV, including if you don't have one yet. Sometimes you'll get help there and then. Sometimes they'll book you in for another visit.

Most people say the first visit is the hardest part, and that it's a great deal easier than they expected. The people who work at Youth Hubs chose their jobs because they want to help people your age. You're exactly the person they're hoping walks in.
