What to do if there's no hub near you

New Youth Hubs open all the time, and we list them as soon as we find them, so it's worth checking back. In the meantime, you've still got good options.

Your nearest Jobcentre has work coaches who help people your age find work, and some run sessions just for 16 to 24 year olds on set days. The link on your search results page finds your nearest one. If you claim Universal Credit, you already have a work coach. Ask them what's available near you, because they often know about local schemes that never make it online.

If you're in England, the National Careers Service is free, and you can use it by phone or webchat, so distance doesn't matter. They'll help with career choices, CVs and applications. Call 0800 100 900 or go to nationalcareers.service.gov.uk. In Scotland and Wales the equivalent services are Skills Development Scotland and Careers Wales.

Your local library is worth a visit too. Libraries have free computers and internet for job searching, and the staff often know what help exists nearby. Just tell them you're looking for work and ask what they know.

And if college is on your mind, most colleges have advice teams you can talk to before you apply, even if you left school a while ago. Search online for your local colleges and call them one by one.
